Bossier-Shreveport's Simon Mangos Wins CHL Performance of the Week

(Tempe, Arizona) - The Central Hockey League (CHL) announced today that Bossier-Shreveport defenseman Simon Mangos has been voted Week Two's CHL Performance of the Week for his two shootout goals and the role he played in the Mudbugs 5-4 victory over Odessa on October 24th.

In a very close vote, Mangos received 51% of the vote (3,138) while Odessa's five power play goals on October 20th received 41% (2,556). There were 6,166 total votes cast in the weekly poll.

The Mudbugs trailed in the game 3-0 before mounting a comeback in the second half of the game. Mangos assisted on two goals in the game and then was the only Bossier-Shreveport player to score in the 11-round shootout. His first strike came in the second round and the eventual game winner coming in the 11th round. On the season, the Cambridge, Ontario native leads his team with seven points (1-6=7).

The nominees for the CHL Performance of the Week for week three of the season (the period between October 26th and November 1st) are as follows:

-Tulsa's Rob Hisey scoring five points (1-4=5) in his teams win vs. Rapid City, October 27th

-Arizona's J.F. Perras making 47 save in his team's 4-2 victory on the road against Rio Grande Valley, October 30th

-Missouri's Doug Groenestege making 25 saves and stopping nine power plays in the Mavericks' 6-1 win at Wichita, October 30th

-Texas Brahmas handing Allen their first loss tying the game with 36 seconds left in regulation and winning in a shootout, October 31st

-Missouri's Chad Hinz scoring both goals in Missouri's 2-0 win at Wichita, October 31st

Fans can vote for the winner until Monday, November 9th with the winner being announced on Tuesday, November 10th
