EVERETT, WA: The AquaSox dropped the series finale on Sunday afternoon at Funko Field in a 23-run slugfest by a score of 13-10 in front of a great afternoon crowd of 2,889. Kyle Lewis recorded yet another two-run home run, the third homer of his rehab assignment with the Frogs.
Noelvi Marte continued his hot-hitting belting a slider for a two-run home run in the bottom of the fifth, tying the game at four. Vancouver proved they could hit the long ball too, hitting two home runs in the seventh inning and building an 11-5 lead.
Everett tried to mount a comeback in the bottom of the seventh when Alberto Rodriguez drove a three-run home run to right center field, cutting the lead down to three. But the Canadians kept adding on, scoring two more runs in the top of the eighth inning.
In the ninth, the AquaSox tried to crawl back into the game thanks to a two-run home run by first baseman Dariel Gomez, his team leading 16th of the season, but it wasn't enough to complete the comeback.
Bryce Miller started the game on the mound for Everett, pitching 5.0 innings allowing five hits, four earned runs, three walks and two strikeouts.
Vancouver starter Abdiel Mendoza threw just 4.0 innings but was able to record six strikeouts on just two earned runs. Pitcher Naswell Paulino (2-3) picked up the win for Vancouver.
The Frogs offense showed a lot of power throughout the homestand, scoring 42 runs during the six-game series. They have scored at least four runs in every game since July 2nd and they have not been shut out since June 17th.
The win for Vancouver gives them a 3-3 series split. The season series between these two teams is split as well at 6-6. Everett now heads on a six-game road trip to face the Tri-City Dust Devils. The AquaSox return to Funko Field on July 22nd to face the Eugene Emeralds in a three-game weekend series. As always, you can catch all of the AquaSox home and away action live on the KRKO radio network.
