
Emeralds Go off Offensively against Hillsboro

The Emeralds' bats wake up in game five of the series as they score double figures against the Hillsboro Hops 14-2.
Hillsboro's lone two runs of the game were scored in the first inning on a two-run home run by 3B A.J. Vukovich to give them their only lead 2-0.
In the second, an RBI single by C Pat Bailey drove in SS Casey Schmitt, followed by a two RBI single by 3B Carter Aldrete then a throwing error by C Ramses Malave to allow the stealing 2B Simon Whiteman to score 4-2.
Five innings later, the Emeralds added two more runs on a two-run home run by Aldrete to extend their lead to 6-2.
The Emeralds would break the game wide open in the seventh inning with an RBI walk with the bases loaded by Schmitt to score RF Vaun Brown, a two-RBI double by LF Jairo Pomares to cash in DH Luis Matos, and CF Hunter Bishop, an RBI double by Aldrete to bring in Schmitt, and an RBI sacrifice fly by Brown to drive in Aldrete 12-2.
To put the cherry on top, the Emeralds added two more runs in the ninth inning on an RBI groundout by 1B Luis Toribio to score Bailey and an RBI single by Brown to cash in Aldrete.
Aldrete finished the night going 4-4 2RBI 1B, 1B, 2RHR, RBI 2B, HBP & R, totaling five RBI.
Wil Jensen had another great start, going 7 IP, 5 H, ER, 0 BB & 9 K.
The Emeralds will play a Sunday matinee game for the series finale as they will throw RHP Jake Wong. First pitch is at 7:05 PM, 6:50 pregame show on 95.3 The Score.
