Tejeda pitches RedHawks to defeat Isotopes 3-2

The Oklahoma RedHawks used strong outing by starting pitcher Rob Tejeda to beat the Albuquerque Isotopes 3-2 Tuesday at AT&T Bricktown Ballpark in Oklahoma City.

Tejeda went six innings and gave up one run on four hits with four walks and six strikeouts. The lone run came on a home run by Scott Seabol in the second inning. Tejeda gave up two hits and two walks in the first two innings and the same over his next four. He improves his record to 1-2 in his first start since being optioned by Texas.

Shortstop Joaquin Arias got the RedHawks on the board in the first inning with a solo home run, his third of the season. The RedHawks scored again in the second to make the score 2-1 on a single by third baseman Jace Brewer. Their final run came in the sixth inning on a double by designated hitter Will Smith.

The Isotopes made it interesting in the ninth with a solo home run by first baseman Tom Wilson. However, relief pitcher Bryan Corey enduced a double play to the first batter he faced to end the game. Corey picked up his fourth save of the season.

The RedHawks and Isotopes will meet again at 7:05 p.m. Wednesday at AT&T Bricktown Ballpark. Edinson Volquez is scheduled to start for Oklahoma and Jeff Fulchino for Albuquerque
