New Orleans Baby Cakes News Release

Game Keys: The New Orleans Zephyrs ninth inning rally fell short on Tuesday night as the Omaha Royals defeated the Z's 4-3 at Rosenblatt Stadium. The controversial finish of the game came on a umpire call of a double play to end the game. The Z's scored the run to tie the game in the ninth inning on a sacrifice fly to centerfield off the bat of Tyrell Godwin, Kenny Kelly tagged from third base to score. The Royals fired the baseball into the infield and threw to third base on a appeal play and the umpire ruled Kelly left premature and the run came off the scoreboard and the Royals won the game. Omaha scored three first inning runs and Adam Bernero pitched eight strong innings to earn his second win of the season. The Royals lead the series 1-0.

Game Notes: New Orleans allowed three runs in the first inning on Tuesday night, the Zephyrs have allowed 41 first inning runs in 51 games. The Zephyrs added catcher Wiki Gonzalez and pitcher Pedro Astacio on Tuesday from the Nationals.
