Memphis Redbirds News Release
THE OPPOSITION: The Redbirds will welcome the New Orleans Zephyrs to AutoZone Park for the second time this season starting Saturday, June 3rd. Memphis and New Orleans will play a four-game set before the Redbirds hit the road again for four games. The Redbirds took 3-of-4 games from the Zephyrs in their last meeting at AutoZone Park but New Orleans owns a 5-3 advantage in the season series.
HOMESTAND HIGHLIGHTS: Fans will enjoy and action-packed weekend during the Redbirds four game homestand with New Orleans. The Redbirds will present the second fireworks extravaganza of the season at AutoZone Park following the game on Saturday, June 3rd. Sunday, June 4th is Six Flags Day at the ballpark. The first 10,000 fans through the gates will receive a voucher good for a 2006 single-day admission to Six Flags St. Louis. Sunday is also the second Community Day of the season as the Redbirds present Collierville Day and kids can run the bases after the game. Hyundai will give fans two opportunities to win a new car during the weekend. If a Redbirds player hits a grand-slam in the bottom of the fifth inning on either Saturday or Sunday, one lucky fan will win a new car courtesy of Hyundai. The band Free World will perform in the entry plaza after the game on Monday, June 5th as part of the Rock 103 Great Unsigned Summer Concert Series. Special guest Alan Gratz will be signing his book Samurai Shortstop in the Backstop Emporium during the game on Monday. Tuesday, June 6th is Bartlett Night at AutoZone Park. Fans can also showcase their talents by participating in the Kix 106 Karaoke Contest before the game in the entry plaza.
FREE FLAGS: Redbirds fans will find their next vacation to one of America's favorite theme parks much more affordable if they get to the ballpark early on Sunday, June 4th. That's because Six Flags St. Louis will give out free single-day admission passes to the first 10,000 fans through the gates of AutoZone Park on Sunday. The passes are good for any day during the 2006 theme park season at Six Flags St. Louis.
'BIRDS IN YOUR NEIGHBORHOOD: The Redbirds are hosting Community Nights at AutoZone Park for the third consecutive year. The 'Birds will welcome two local communities to the park during their short four game homestand. Collierville Day is Sunday, June 4th and Bartlett Night is Tuesday, June 2nd. Both nights will feature community expos in the entry plaza before the game, special recognition of community residents and performances by community dance teams, choirs and cheer squads before and throughout the game.
BASEBALL BINGO: A new craze is taking over AutoZone Park on Sunday afternoons. "FUNGO," the Redbirds version of the traditional game of BINGO, gives fans the opportunity to win prizes while following the action on the field. Fans will receive free FUNGO cards courtesy of WRVR 104.5 The River and can claim prizes at Fans First in the concourse area of the ballpark if their card is a winner.
