Teilon's Six RBI Lead Roadrunners to Split

August 2, 2010 - United League Baseball (ULB)
San Angelo Colts News Release

Rightfielder Nelson Teilon went 3-3 with three doubles, six RBI and a run scored while starter Mark DiBernardo settled down after a rough start as the Edinburg Roadrunners defeated the San Angelo Colts 12-6 on Monday night at Foster Field to earn a split in the four-game series.

The Roadrunners would score early and often as they put six runs on the board in the game's first two innings.

Teilon drove in the first run of the game on a groundout before centerfielder Ambiorix Concepcion picked up an RBI single to make the score 2-0 after one inning.

In the second, Edinburg got an RBI single from designated hitter Osiel Flores, a sac fly by leftfielder Robert Matlock, and then a two-run double by Teilon to take a commanding 6-0 lead.

The Colts would get one back in the second on a solo homerun by third-baseman Landon Camp (14).

In the third, following a RBI single from first-baseman Josh Collazo, Camp would continue his feast on Roadrunner pitching by smacking a three-run homerun (15) to pull the Colts to within one at 6-5.

For Camp it was his fifth homer of the series, and his ninth in his past 11 games.

But Edinburg would immediately respond with three runs in the fourth on an RBI single by second-baseman Albert Gonzalez and a two-run double from Teilon.

They would add three more in the eighth on another RBI double by Teilon and a two-run double from Concepcion to extend the lead to 12-5.

In addition to his six RBI for the night, Teilon had nine runs driven in for the series and a homerun.

The Colts would tack on a meaningless run in the bottom-of-the-ninth on a groundout by centerfielder Ronnie Gaines to make the final 12-6.

In addition to Teilon's heroics, Concepcion went 3-4 with two singles, a double, and three RBI, while Flores went 1-3 with a single, RBI, three runs scored, and two stolen bases.

Shortstop Felix Molina chipped in by reaching base five times and going 3-3 with a double, two singles, two walks, and four runs scored.

Leading the Colts offensively was Camp who went 2-4 with two homers, and four RBI.

Collazo went 3-5 with two singles, a double, a run scored, and an RBI to aid the Colts' cause.

After giving up five runs through the first three innings, DiBernardo (6-4) retired 15 of the final 20 hitters he faced, in picking up the win.

Overall, he tossed 7.1 innings allowing 12 hits, and five runs while striking out four.

Bryan Heston (2-2) took the loss for San Angelo after allowing nine runs on 10 hits in only four innings of work.

The Colts will now welcome the Laredo Broncos to town for the only time this season with the first of a four-game series set for Tuesday at 7:05.

Ezequiel Astacio (5-4, 5.12 ERA) will pitch for the Colts against Matt Gibbs (4-2, 3.51 ERA) for the Broncos.

Tuesday will also be Free Admission Night and $2 Tuesday presented by Budweiser as all fans will be welcomed into Foster Field free of charge.

Furthermore, parking, soda, bottled beer, popcorn, and hot dogs will all be on sale throughout the evening for only $2.

The broadcast of the game begins at 6:50 with the Kemps' Pregame Show and can be heard on 1260 KKSA.
