Teilon, Roadrunners Split with Colts

SAN ANGELO, Texas---Nelson Teilon went 3-for-5 with three doubles and six RBIs helping the Edinburg Roadrunners to a 12-6 victory over the San Angelo Colts Monday night at Foster Field. With the win, Edinburg splits the four-game series with San Angelo.

The Roadrunners (37-23) got on the board in the first against former Roadrunner Bryan Heaston (2-2). Robert Matlock started the game with a double and then moved to third on an infield hit by Felix Molina. Nelson Teilon then hit an RBI ground out that allowed Matlock to score and Molina to move to second. After Molina stole third, Ambiorix Concepcion hit an RBI single to right field scoring Molina and giving Edinburg the 2-0 lead.

Carlos Hereaud started the top of the second with a walk and Alexis Hernandez followed with a single. After a passed ball allowed runners to go to second and third, Osiel Flores hit an RBI single that allowed Hereaud to score. Matlock then hit a sacrifice fly allowing Hernandez to score from third. Molina was walked putting runners at first and second for Teilon who then hit a two-run double extending the Roadrunners lead 6-0.

The Colts (33-31) got on the board in the bottom of the second against Mark DiBernardo (6-4) with a solo home run by Landon Camp cutting Edinburg's lead 6-1.

Back-to-back hits by Ronnie Gaines and Jason Crosland started the bottom of the third for San Angelo. Joshua Collazo hit an RBI single to left allowing Gaines to score from third. Camp then hit a three-run home run making it 6-5 in favor of the Roadrunners.

Edinburg answered back in the top of the fourth. Flores started the inning with a walk and then stole second base. Albert Gonzalez followed with an RBI single that allowed Flores to score from second. One out later, Molina hit a double to right center field putting runners on second and third. Teilon then hit his second two-run double of the game allowing Molina and Gonzalez to score extending the Roadrunners lead 9-5.

In the top of the eighth, Flores walked to start the inning and two outs later Molina walked putting runners at first and second. Teilon then hit his third double of the game scoring Flores from second base. Concepcion followed with a double of his own that allowed Molina and Teilon to score making it 12-5 Edinburg.

DiBernardo pitched seven and a third innings allowing five runs on 12 hits and striking out four before Aaron Guerra struck out the final two of the bottom of the eighth.

Julio Castro allowed a run in the bottom of the ninth but struck out the final two batters giving Edinburg the 12-6 victory.

The Roadrunners return home for a nine game home stand starting with the Amarillo Dillas Tuesday night at Edinburg Roadrunners. Edinburg has two and a half game lead over Amarillo for first place in the United League standings.
