Sarnia Sting News Release
On Sunday, December 7th, Lambton Ford and the Sarnia Sting will host the 17th Annual Teddy Bear Toss, in support of a number of local charities. The Sarnia Sting will take on the Sault Ste. Marie Greyhounds at the RBC Centre, starting at 4:05, for the coveted Teddy Bear Toss game.
As tradition has it, when the Sarnia Sting score their first goal the fans respond by tossing their stuffed toy on the ice. The toys are gathered from the ice and then transported to Lambton Ford to go on display until the stuff toy makes its' way to their new home.
Since its' inception this event has generated over 45,000 stuffed animals, all divided among the following local charities: Salvation Army, Pathways Children's Treatment Center, Inn of the Good Sheppard, Sarnia Kinsmen, Local 663, Women's Pregnancy Crisis Center, The Women's Interval Home, and other local charities.
The Sarnia Sting will have 2 players in the lineup on Sunday afternoon who have already recorded a coveted Teddy Bear Toss goal in their OHL career. Last year, Patrick White scored to send the bear's flying, and in 2012-13, Daniel Nikandrov did the same for the Sarnia Sting.
Habitat for Humanity will be at Friday's game as well as the Teddy Bear Toss game, selling stuffed bears should fans wish to purchase them.
Side Note:
In light of the Teddy Bear Toss game, Sunday's regular 2nd intermission Chuck-a-puck will be moved to post-game. Following the final buzzer, and the team clearing the ice, the Sarnia Jr. Sting Minor Atom AAA Chuck-a-puck will commence. If you are interested in helping support the Lambton Jr. Sting Minor Atom AAA team in their fundraising effort contact Jerome @ gaspari.jerome@gmail.com or 519-384-4214 for more details.
