Team Slovakia To Set Up Training Camp in Prince Albert

Prince Albert, Saskatchewan - In preparation for the 2010 World Junior Hockey Championships in Saskatoon and Regina later this month, Team Slovakia is on their way to Prince Albert to set up their final selection camp next week. At the 2009 WJC in Ottawa, Slovakia finished fourth, just out of the medals.

The Slovaks will set up their pre-competition camp featuring 25 players and utilize the Art Hauser Centre, Kinsmen Arena and Dave G. Steuart Arena in Prince Albert from December 16 - 18 including 5 on-ice sessions. The Slovaks will depart Prince Albert on December 19th to prepare for their first pre-competition game on December 20th against Austria in Humboldt.

All practices are open to the general public.

Wednesday, December 16: 5:00 - 6:00 PM - Art Hauser Centre

Thursday, December 17: 11:00 AM - 12:00 PM - Art Hauser Centre

7:30 - 8:30 PM - Kinsmen Arena

Friday, December 18: 9:30 - 10:30 AM - Art Hauser Centre

4:00 - 5:00 PM - Dave G. Steuart Arena

As part of the cultural exchange, Team Slovakia has agreed to visit three schools on the morning of Thursday, December 17. 3 members of Team Slovakia will each attend: Ecole Vickers, John Diefenbaker School and Queen Mary Community School from 9:00 - 10:00 AM to meet with students and accept well wishes.

The entire team will be guests of the Prince Albert Raiders at their WHL game on Friday, December 18th when they host the Saskatoon Blades at 7:00 PM.

There is an Under 20 Pre-Competition game at the Art Hauser Centre on Monday, December 21st between Team Austria and Team Switzerland at 7:00 PM. Tickets are $25 each which includes a voucher to see a game at the WJC in Saskatoon December 27th. Tickets are available on-line at www.raiderhockey.com or by calling 764-GAME.
