Giants Make Trade With Regina

Vancouver, BC-The Vancouver Giants today announced a trade with the Regina Pats. The Giants have acquired goaltender Derek Tendler along with the Pats first pick in the CHL Import Draft, and a 5th round pick in the 2011 Bantam Draft. Going to Regina in the trade, is forward Cass Mappin, defenseman Mitch Spooner and prospect Mikael Jung.

Giants General Manager Scott Bonner says "We would like to thank Mitch and Cass for their contributions to the Giants, in the short time they were here, and wish them all the best in Regina"

Tendler, 17, (Jan 1 1992) has played in one game (four minutes) for the Pats this season, the 6 foot 210 pound goalie is playing for the Estevan Bruins of the Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League

Giants Director of Player Personnel Jason Ripplinger says "Derek is a strong positional and technically sound goalie, who is having a good year in Estevan." Tendler is two years removed from winning the league MVP in the Saskatchewan AAA Midget League. In his last game with Estevan on December 5th, Tendler stopped 30 shots in a shutout victory over Kindersley. Tendler is 5-6-1-0 with a 3.14 goals against average and a.904 save percentage with Estevan.
