Sugar Land Space Cowboys News Release
(SUGAR LAND, Texas) - Taylor Jones and Jake Meyers began MLB Rehab Assignments on Friday night as the Sugar Land Space Cowboys hosted the Albuquerque Isotopes.
Jones hit one of three Space Cowboys home runs in an 8-7 extra-inning loss at Constellation Field.
Jones' solo homer came just two batters after a solo home run from Corey Julks. Jones started at first base and hit cleanup, finishing the night 1-for-3.
Meyers hit third and started in center, going 0-4 in the first appearance of his MLB Rehab Assignment since offseason left shoulder surgery.
Julks and Jones put the Space Cowboys out to a 2-0 lead in the first. It was Julks' team-leading 13th homer of the year and his 12th in his last 20 games. Julks is tied for second in the Pacific Coast League in home runs.
Alex De Goti put the Space Cowboys up by two once again with a three-run homer in the sixth. It was De Goti's sixth home run of the season and he's tied for second in the PCL with 24 extra-base hits.
Albuquerque scored a pair of runs in the eighth to send the game to extras and added another run in their half of the 10th.
Korey Lee tied the game up with an RBI double in the bottom half. Lee finished the night 2-for-4 with two doubles and an RBI. Lee is hitting .400 (6x15) with four doubles and four RBI over his last four games.
DJ Peterson helped lead the Isotopes' offense, going 2-for-5 with a home run and four RBI.
The Space Cowboys wore "Mandalorian" themed jerseys Friday night as part of their Star Wars Night. The game-worn jerseys were silent auctioned during the game, with proceeds benefitting Candlelighters. The Space Cowboys will turn to Brett Conine at 6:05 p.m. on Saturday at Constellation Field. Albuquerque is scheduled to start Riley Smith.
