Buffalo Bandits News Release

BUFFALO, N.Y. (February 22, 2007) --The National Lacrosse League announced Wednesday that John Tavares will start at forward for the Eastern Division at the 2007 NLL All-Star Game in Portland. Tavares, the NLL's all-time leading scorer, will be making his sixth All-Star appearance.

Tavares leads Buffalo with 53 points on 21 goals and 32 assists through eight games, which ties him for second in the league. Earlier this season, Tavares became the first player in NLL history to reach the 600-assist mark. Having already broken the league records for points and assists, he is just 26 goals shy of reaching Gary Gait's mark of 596 career goals.

The East and West Division starting lineups were determined by the combined votes of the league's general managers, league media, and fans, who voted online at the league's official website, www.nll.com.

The East Division All-Stars will be coached by Buffalo Bandits head coach Darris Kilgour, who will be assisted by Rochester Knighthawks head coach Ed Comeau. The All-Star Game Coaches were determined by team finishing order in the 2006 NLL Playoffs.

The game will be played at the Rose Garden in Portland at 10 p.m. ET on March 10.
