
Tammy Sutton-Brown to Launch First Children's Book

Author Tammy Sutton-Brown, an 11-year WNBA and International veteran, two-time WNBA & International All-Star, has combined her love for reading and cultural experiences to promote youth literacy and global education to our youth. The starting center of the Indiana Fever whose paresnts were born in Jamaica, the native Canadian has lived and played professional basketball in five different countries while being exposed to over 10 different languages and a wealth of cultural traditions.
Her vision is to implement global education to our youth at an early age through the release of her children's series: The Adventures of Cree & Scooter. The first book in the series begins on the continent of North America, in the country of Canada: Cree & Scooter Hit The Slopes in British Colombia. The book is set to launch at a private children's event from 6:00 to 8:30 p.m., August 28, at The Children's Museum of Indianapolis (3000 N. Meridian Street).
The invitation-only event provides a chance for kids to attend the exclusive book launch party. Children may sign-up for their lucky raffle selection by visiting Cree and Scooter at upcoming Indiana Fever games on Tuesday, Aug. 9 and Saturday, Aug. 13. Golden Ticket invitations will be mailed to the 125 lucky winners on Monday, Aug. 15.
Sutton-Brown's life and cultural experiences have broadened her perspective on life and social responsibility to her communities. Sutton-Brown's global exposure and knowledge of the world has sharpened her learning skills. She has gained higher proficiency in foreign language and she has adapted a greater respect, understanding and appreciation of others. Sutton-Brown believes that her opportunities have been unique and for that she is grateful. It is her belief that global exposure will enhance the lives of others beginning with our youth. Therefore, her goal is to implement global education to our youth at an early age through the release of her children's series: The Adventures of Cree & Scooter.
In the series, Cree is a 6-year old girl. She and her pet chameleon, Scooter, have a very special bond. Scooter is a stuffed animal to others. However, when Cree goes to bed at night, Scooter comes to life and takes her on adventures all over the world - in her dreams! The magical travels of Cree & Scooter will introduce young readers and their parents to some of the many cultures, languages and traditions that Tammy has experienced around the world.
The Cree & Scooter launch event is a collaborative effort with The Children's Museum of Indianapolis, recognized as the largest and best children's museum in the world.
