Indiana Fever News Release

INDIANAPOLIS - The Indiana Fever will wear pink uniforms on Saturday, August 13 when the New York Liberty visits Conseco Fieldhouse on Breast Health Awareness Night presented by Community Health Network. For the second year-in-a-row, Fever players will wear special-order pink uniforms produced by adidas which will be auctioned for charity immediately after the game.

The Fever hosts the Liberty in a matchup ot teams vying for playoff contention in the WNBA's Eastern Conference. Tipoff is 7:00 p.m., doors open at 6:00 p.m. Fans are encouraged to wear pink in support of breast health awareness.

The first 2,000 fans to Saturday's game will receive a replica pink Fever jersey courtesy of Community Health Network. Community Health Network also will conduct a pregame health fair on the Main Concourse. The first 1,000 fans will also receive Komen/Fever watches courtesy of Deuce Brand, an associate sponsor of the WNBA's Breast Health Awareness initiative.

Fever star Katie Douglas, who lost both parents to cancer during her youth, is a spokesperson for the WNBA's Breast Health Awareness Week. Douglas recently starred in her third WNBA All-Star Game and will have a commemorative bobblehead doll available to fans who purchase an exclusive ticket package beginning at $24. The Douglas Bobblehead ticket packages may only be purchased at FeverBasketball.com.

To help raise funds and awareness for breast cancer services, research and early detection, Douglas and her teammates will trade their customary red, blue and gold colors for the pink uniforms which mirror the Fever's regular home and road design.

Immediately following the game, the Fever will conduct its second-ever Breast Health Awareness Live Auction with every player's game-worn pink jersey among many autographed items up for bid to benefit the Community Breast Health Fund. The entire Fever team and coaches Lin Dunn and Stephanie White will assist with auction proceedings that include pink game-worn shoes, a variety of player "experience" packages; a cooking "experience" package with Coach Dunn; and a complimentary suite to a Fever playoff game. Last year's Breast Health Awareness Live Auction raised over $44,000.

In addition, a silent auction will take place during pregame and through halftime on the Main Concourse, with proceeds benefitting Indy's Super Cure, a community initiative of the 2012 Indianapolis Super Bowl Host Committee aimed at encouraging tissue donation to the Komen Tissue Bank - the world's only known tissue-donation center of its kind. Auction items include pink basketballs autographed by Fever players, a Derek Jeter-autographed photo, a Tony Hawk-autographed skateboard and photo, and assorted NFL autographed memorabilia courtesy of the 2012 Indianapolis Super Bowl Host Committee.

Breast cancer survivors from Central Indiana will be honored at halftime and a pregame Chalk Talk in the Locker Room Restaurant (free to the public, 6:20 p.m.) features a Community Health Network breast care surgeon and Allison Melangton, president and chief executive officer of the 2012 Indianapolis Super Bowl Host Committee.

A WNBA playoff participant in six straight seasons and seven times since 2002, the Eastern Conference-leading Indiana Fever continues its 12th season by hosting the San Antonio Silver Stars on Tuesday, Aug. 9 (7:00 p.m.). The Fever conducts Breast Health Awareness Night presented by Community Health Network when Indiana battles the New York Liberty on Saturday, Aug. 13 (7:00 p.m.).
