Tamayo Has Grand Performance Against Colts

San Angelo, Texas---The Colts saw a fourteen game home win streak come to an end Wednesday night at Foster Field as they fall to McAllen 15-12. The Thunder victory is only their third win in thirteen tries at Foster Field. The Colts still hold on to a 4.5 game lead in the North American South Division as Rio Grande would also put a mark in the loss column on the evening.

San Angelo would find themselves trailing through the first six innings of play. The Colts would go into the seventh inning down 11-8 to the Thunder. Vic Ferrante would get the seventh inning rolling for the Colts with a lead off walk. San Angelo would send all nine batters in the rotation to the plate in the seventh. With the bases loaded and two out, Daryl Jones would drive in three runs with a base hit to tie the game at 11-11. Landon Camp would complete the rally with a base hit of his own that would score Jones to give the Colts the 12-11 lead until the ninth inning.

In the top the ninth with one out, Thunder shortstop Yaibel Tamayo (4) would hit a grand slam to put McAllen ahead for good. Colts closer Shawn Kramer (2-3, 7.24) would get the loss. Thunder lefty Bryan Smith (1-0, 3.00) would get his first win on the year.

Thursday night is "Thirsty Thursday" at Foster Field. Come out and enjoy $1 beer all night long courtesy of Miller Lite. Remember to drink responsibly. Gates open at 6:00pm. First pitch is at 7:05.
