Yuma Scorpions News Release
Yuma, AZ -- The Yuma Scorpions players made it to the city of Yuma around 12pm on Tuesday. Most of them let the club workersbring the luggage into the clubhouse while the players escaped to take naps and rest. Most players had some extreme jet-lag as they just finished a 26-day road trip, flying in from Maui early Tuesday morning. It was a weird scene as luggage was displayed throughout the entire building when Lake County arrived from their flight with their equipment as well. The tiredScorpions (17-32)were able to band together and place amark in the win column.
David Cross (2-3) started the game, but did not log enough time to merit a decision. He threw 3-innings giving up 5-earnedruns. James Hoyt (1-0)gave up one hitover 3-innings, he also struck out 5 batters. Hoyt also threw only 38 pitches before yielding to JacobWiley and Robby Scott.
The Fielders (25-21) struck first in the game when Franklin Lopez hit a bases clearing triple, placing the Fielders up 2-0 in the second inning. Chris Brown hit a 2-run homerun to put the Fielders total to 5 on the night. That would be all they would score losing 13-5.
Jared McDonald hit another homerun, a 3-run shot to right field during a 7-run second inning for the Scorpions. Tony Phillips also grabbed his first hit as a Scorpion in the second inning. He singled and came across the plate on a Carlos Leon RBI single. JJ Muse got in on the action pounding a 3-run shot to left center in the same inning. The Scorpions led 7-2 at that point. Tony Phillips finished his first game going 3-4 with 2-singles, a double, a walk, and an RBI. He also displayed the leather as he started a 5-4-3 double play in the 8th.
The Scorpions look to continue their winning ways on Wednesday night against the Lake County Fielders. The game time will be 7:35pm tickets start at $5. The Scorpions can be caught live on Scorpions TV powered by goliveyuma.com.
