Tacoma Tops Chihuahuas 8-5

Tacoma starter Rob Whalen allowed only one earned run in six innings Wednesday, as the Rainiers beat the El Paso Chihuahuas 8-5. The Rainiers have won the first two games of the series.

Stephen McGee got El Paso on the board with an RBI single in the second inning, the first time in the last five games the Chihuahuas scored before their opponent. The Chihuahuas trailed 8-2 entering the bottom of the ninth before scoring three times on a two-run double by Cory Spangenberg and an RBI groundout by Luis Urias, one of two RBIs in the loss for Urias.

Franmil Reyes went 0-for-3 with a walk, ending his nine-game hitting streak and eight-game multi-hit streak. Reliever Robert Stock appeared in his fourth game since coming up from Double-A San Antonio and allowed his first hit and runs in Triple-A. Tacoma's Taylor Motter has homered in each of the first two games of the series.
