TACOMA, WASH. - Tacoma Defiance (4-4-4, 16 points) defeated San Diego Loyal SC (6-6-3, 21 points) 2-1, playing at home for the first time in almost a month.

After a scoreless first half, Tacoma found the back of the when Azriel Gonzalez got the final touch on a scuffle right in front of goal and was able to get just enough on his shot to gain the lead. San Diego wasted no time to level the score when a long header by Tumi Moshobane flew past the outstretched hands of Defiance goalkeeper Andrew Thomas in the 55th minute. Ten minutes later Defiance took the lead for good when Carlos Anguiano received a ball courtesy of a nifty Azriel Gonzalez back-heel pass and slotted it past the keeper to take a 2-1 lead, which held until the final whistle.

Wade Webber's side now faces a flurry of three home matches over the course of nine days starting against New Mexico United on August 1st (1:30 p.m. PT / ESPN+)
