EDINBURG, Texas - Rio Grande Valley FC (7-3-4, 25 pts.) heads to Arizona as they face Phoenix Rising FC (9-2-2; 29 pts.) on Saturday, July 31 at 9:30 p.m. CST.
The last time both teams faced each other on the road was at Phoenix Rising Soccer Complex where the home team came up on top with a 3-1 win. RGV FC has never been able to earn a win against the Rising as the overall record stands at 0-4-3.
RGV FC: The Toros are tied with El Paso Locomotive FC in first in the Mountain Division with a four-game undefeated streak, most recently equalizing at H-E-B Park with Austin Bold FC 1-1. Both Juan David Cabezas and Rodrigo Lopez have been crucial in the midfield for RGV FC. Elvis Amoh continues to lead the Toros side with four goals with both Juan Carlos Azocar and Wan Kuzain (22 total shots) right below with three goals each. James Murphy and Lopez have distributed three assists each while Lopez has created 25 chances. Tyler Deric has totaled 28 saves, conceding 14 goals while keeping four clean sheets. Erik Pimentel has totaled 24 clearances, 21 interceptions, 23 tackles while winning 26 aerial duels. Collectively, the Toros have scored 20 goals while having an 81.5% passing success rate.
PHX: The Rising lead the Pacific Division and are on a five-game undefeated streak. The team earned a 1-0 win over San Diego Loyal SC last Saturday, July 24 with a goal from James Musa in the 9th minute. Phoenix is led by Solomon Asante with eight goals, six assists, 35 shots and 35 created chances. Santi Moar follows right behind with seven goals, three assists, 33 shots and 26 created opportunities. Andre Rawls has totaled 16 saves, conceding six goals in seven appearances while being able to keep two clean sheets. Benjamin Lundt has totaled 15 saves, conceding six goals while being able to keep four clean sheets in six appearances. James Musa has been key defensively as well as he has totaled 43 clearances, 21 interceptions, 14 tackles, seven blocks and has won 24 aerial duels. As a team, Phoenix has scored 32 times, with a conversion 15.8% rate.
