T-Bones Stunned in Joplin

JOPLIN, MO. - The Kansas City T-Bones dropped the series opener Monday night, 6-5 to Joplin at Joe Becker Stadium

The T-Bones held three seperate leads, but couldn't avoid late heroics by Joplin in the 9th inning. T-Bones starting pitcher Kyle DeVore took another no-decision as he allowed eight hits over six innings.

The T-Bones got out to an early 1-0 lead in the first inning, when Jake Blackwood hit a solo home-run to give Kansas City a 1-0 lead.

In the fourth inning, Kyle Robinson hit his third home-run of the season giving Kansas City a 3-2 lead. The T-Bones, again used the long-ball in the eigth inning, to take a late 5-3 lead, courtsey of Vladimir Frias team leading, fourth of the season.

Despite the T-Bones 12 hits, the Blasters scored two runs in the ninth inning, off T-Bones reliever Jonathon Kountis (0-3) to collect their fifth walk-off win of the season.

With two-outs in the ninth inning, Kountis walked Oscar Mesa on five pitches, and gave way to a game-tying RBI double to Carlos Ramirez to tie the game at 5-5. The next batter, Omar Luna, singled to left, that allowed Ramirez to score, and stun Kansas City 6-5.

The T-Bones (8-14), continue the seven-game roadtrip to Joplin (14-8) on Tuesday night, with first pitch scheduled for 6:35pm.
