T-Bones Fall 11-8 After Rain Delay

The Kansas City T-Bones (15-11) fell to the Gary SouthShore RailCats (15-11), 11-8, Wednesday night at CommunityAmerica Ballpark in game three of a four-game set.

After an hour and 44-minute rain delay, Kansas City opened the scoring in front of 3,780 fans as Rico Washington singled off Willie Glen with two outs and later scored on a Ray Sadler double. Sadler scored on Jim Fasano's second home run in as many nights, and the T-Bones led 3-0 after one.

Kansas City tacked on three more in the third as Keanon Simon started the inning with a single and scored on a two-run home run by Jacob Blackwood. Washington picked up his second hit of the night and stole both second and third base before scoring on an error, extending the T-Bones lead to 6-0 after three innings.

Gary sent 12 men to the plate in the fourth and scored seven runs off of T-Bones starter Brett Davis (2-2). The first five batters of the inning reached base, highlighted by a three-run home run by John Parham. Tanner Townsend also homered in the inning, chasing Davis. Kyle Dahman entered with two outs and allowed the eighth run in the inning, bringing Gary's lead to 8-6.

Davis surrendered seven runs on nine hits over three and two-thirds innings, walking three and striking out one in the loss.

The T-Bones added a run in the fifth, as Sadler scored on a Fasano single. The RailCats extended their lead in the eighth, scoring three runs as Mike Reese doubled home two and later scored. Drew Graham entered with one man out in the inning after Dahman worked three and two-thirds innings, allowing three runs, two earned, on five hits and three walks.

Kansas City capped the scoring at 11-8 in the bottom of the eighth as Keith Hernandez drove home Fasano with an RBI single. Graham exited following the eighth, allowing one run on two hits in two-thirds of an inning, and Kansas City newcomer Kyle Heim pitched a scoreless ninth.

Andy Shipman earned his eighth save of the season with a perfect ninth.

The two teams wrap up the four-game series tomorrow night. Ryan Knippschild (4-1, 2.40) takes the mound opposite Brad Halsey (1-1, 2.21) and the RailCats. First pitch is set for 7:05 p.m. Catch all the action through streaming webcast at www.tbonesbaseball.com or on the radio at KXTR 1660 AM.
