
T-Birds Trade for Travis Bobbee

Kent,September 22, 2010 - Seattle Thunderbirds general manager Russ Farwell today announced the T-Birds have acquired defenseman Travis Bobbee and a conditional bantam pick from the Swift Current Broncos for center Brenden Silvester and defenseman Tanner Muth.
"We needed to improve our defense for this year. Bobbee brings offense and experience to our team right now," said Farwell. "This will be a good opportunity for both players in Swift Current and we wish Tanner and Brenden the best with their new team."
Bobbee is a 20-year-old defenseman entering his fifth season in the WHL. He split last season with the Broncos and the Portland Winterhawks. Bobbee appeared in 74 games combined and had eight goals and 24 assists for 32 points. He has appeared in 247 career games and has 78 points on 22 goals and 56 assists with 98 penalty minutes.
WHL teams are allowed three 20-year-olds each season. With the addition of Bobbee, the T-Birds now have three 20-year-olds on the roster, with defenseman Brenden Dillon and center Travis Toomey being the other 20-year-olds. It is expected Bobbee will arrive in Kent by Friday.
Silvester has appeared in 159 games with the T-Birds the past three seasons. He has 12 goals and 19 assists for 31 points with 61 penalty minutes.
Muth appeared in 49 games last season as a rookie and had five assists with 28 penalty minutes.
The T-Birds will open the regular season against the Everett Silvertips on Friday, September 24 at Comcast Arena in Everett at 7:35pm. The T-Birds will hold their home opener on Saturday, September 25 at 7:05p.m. against long time rival, the Portland Winterhawks. The T-Birds will wrap up their opening weekend in Kennewick against the Tri-City Americans on Sunday, September 26, at 5p.m. at the Toyota Center.
T-Birds single game tickets for the 2010-11 season are available online at the T-Birds website and at the ShoWare Center box office. The ShoWare Center Box Office is open Monday through Friday 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., Saturday 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., Saturday game days at 10 a.m. and Sunday game days at noon.
