Swift Current Broncos News Release

Swift Current, SK---Swift Current Broncos' Head Coach and General Manager Mark Lamb has announced the club has acquired centre Brenden Silvester and defenseman Tanner Muth from the Seattle Thunderbirds in exchange for defenseman Travis Bobbee.

Silvester, 19 years old, from Port Coquitlam BC is entering his 4th WHL season. Last season he posted 4 goals and 10 assists for 14 points to go along with 30 penalty minutes for the T-Birds. He is 5'11" and 190 lbs.

Muth, from Calgary, was Seattle's second round selection in the 2008 WHL Bantam Draft. He is a 6'1" 191 lb defenseman. The 17 year old will be entering his second WHL season. Last year he had 5 assists for the Thunderbirds.

"In this deal, we felt we addressed our needs for the present and the future." Comments Head Coach and General Manager Mark Lamb, "we wanted to acquire players in both the forward and defense positions. In this trade we were able to acquire 2 players for 1. We had to give up a very good WHL defenseman to get both Tanner and Brenden. We added to our depth up front, with Silvester, who will add some grit and skill and on defense, we feel that Muth will be a top defenseman in the WHL in the near future."

Both Silvester and Muth will join the Broncos prior to the season opener in Moose Jaw on Friday.
