T-Birds sweep Americans in Seattle

SEATTLE, March 28, 2007 - The Seattle Thunderbirds beat the Tri-City Americans 2-0 in Game 4 of the of their best-of-seven first round playoff series Wednesday night in front of 2,646 at KeyArena.

Seattle has a 3-1 series lead heading back to Kennewick for Game 5. Game 5 is on Friday, March 30, in the Toyota Center. The puck drops at 7:05 p.m. If necessary, Game 6 will be back in the KeyArena on Saturday, March 31. Game time is 7:05 p.m.

Derek Yeomans stopped all 28 shots put up by the Americans to gain his second shutout of the playoffs. His playoff record goes to 3-1 vs. the Americans. Yeomans has six career playoff shutouts. The T-Birds struck first at 3:10 of the opening period on a power-play goal from Thomas Hickey. Brett Robertson dumped the puck into Hickey inside the blue line at the near boards. Hickey squared up to the net and slowly skated backwards into the point sizing up the middle for a weak spot. Hickey unleashed a one-timer that sailed through the crowed and beat Americans goaltender Carey Price low at the left post. Bud Holloway also assisted on the 1-0 goal.

Robertson registered one of his own at 6:24 of the first. Lindsay Nielsen recovered the puck behind the net in the Tri-City zone and slid the puck up to Robertson cutting into the crease. Robertson lifted the puck off the ice past Price high at the left post for the 2-0 lead. Josh Schappert also had an assist on Robertson's third goal of the playoffs. Seattle and Tri-City each had six shots on goal in the first.

Tri-City (1-3) outshot Seattle 13-4 in a scoreless second period. The Americans led 19-10 through two periods.

Seattle outshot Tri-City 16-9 in the third. The Americans outshot the T-Birds 28-26 on the night.

Price stopped 24 of 26 shots and his record falls to 1- 3.
