Everett Silvertips News Release
Spokane, Wash. - The Everett Silvertips lost to the Spokane Chiefs 3-1 on Wednesday night, March 28th in game four of their first round playoff series. Peter Mueller scored the lone goal for the Silvertips who see their 2-1 lead in the series evaporate. Things are now evened up 2-2 heading into Friday's game five.
Everett played strong during the first period and out shot Spokane 10-3 during the 20-minutes. Neither team, however, scored despite both sides having a pair of power play opportunities. But the Silvertips would capitalize on a quick start to the second period.
The 'Tips worked the puck to down low in the Spokane zone. That's where Peter Mueller and Moises Gutierrez went to work trying to get the puck past Chiefs goaltender Dustin Tokarski. Eventually, Mueller gathered the rubber and put it upstairs from a tight angle at 3:31 for his first goal of the playoffs. Jordan Mistelbacher contributed the secondary assist.
Spokane though would begin fighting back within the first few minutes of the third period. David Rutherford got the puck past Silvertips goalie Leland Irving at 3:35 amidst action in and around the Everett crease. The Chiefs went on to take a 2-1 lead at the 11:00 mark on a goal by Derek Ryan, and then finalized the scoring on a Chris Bruton empty netter at 17:08.
The two teams will now return to Everett for game five of the series this Friday night, March 30th, inside of the Everett Events Center. The puck is scheduled to drop at 7:35 p.m.
