April 11, 2009 - NBA G League (G League)
New Mexico Thunderbirds News Release

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M., April 11th, 2009 -Team MVP and the NBA D-League's leading scorer Will Conroy carried the Albuquerque Thunderbirds up and through their final game this season. Conroy, a 6-2 guard out of the University of Washington, scored 25 of his 37 points in the second half and added eight assists as the T-birds, now and indefinitely 24-26, were downed by the Tulsa 66ers, 104-98, Saturday night at Tingley Coliseum.

The 66ers were led by their spark off the bench, Gary Ervin. Ervin exploded for a team high 23 points while teammate Derrick Dial chipped in 19 points, seven rebounds and four assists. Ervin and Dial were just two of the six 66ers who scored in double figures.

Albuquerque managed to pull within one with less than two minutes to play but failed to overcome Tulsa's intense defense. The T-birds, now 15-10 at home, were outrebounded 42-34 and shot less that 44% from the field.

Helping keep the Thunderbirds close was forward Jasper Johnson with 21 points and four boards. Johnson finished the season with an impressive 19 double-doubles including a 42 point outburst against Tulsa on February 21st in Tulsa, Oklahoma.

Both the 66ers and the T-birds have been eliminated from playoff contention. As the Thunderbirds closed out their fourth NBDL season their attendance tallied an overwhelming 3,515 Albuquerque fans.
