
Thunderbirds Defeat Tulsa

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M., April 10th, 2009 - In spite of a late Tulsa rally, The Thunderbirds, now 24-25, downed the 66ers, 119-115, Friday night at Tingley Coliseum.
Leading the T-birds with 27 points was Antonio Meeking, a 6-7 forward out of Louisiana Tech. Meeking received help from the D-League's leading scorer Will Conroy. Conroy, who was recently named to the NBDL's All D-League First Team, chipped in 19 points, 12 boards and three steals.
The 66ers, who slipped to 14-35, were led by Keith Clark. Clark erupted for a game high 32 points while teammates Gary Forbes and Derrick Dial combined for 46 points and 14 assists.
Albuquerque led by nine going into the fourth quarter but watched their lead diminish with two minutes to play. Keeping the Thunderbirds close was Jasper Johnson with 24 points, five boards, five assists and three steals. Johnson was just one of five T-birds scoring in double figures.
Due to an Erie BayHawks win tonight, the Thunderbirds have been eliminated from the 2009 NBDL Playoffs. On Saturday, April 11th the T-birds will close out their season and their series with Tulsa, 7pm at Tingley Coliseum.
