MILWAUKEE, WI - Ian Bennett's four goals and Josh Lemos' clean sheet led the Milwaukee Wave (13-3) over the Syracuse Silver Knights (6-6) 6-0 at the UW-Milwaukee Panther Arena Saturday afternoon.

"We knew this game would be difficult," said Silver Knights head coach Ryan Hall. "Milwaukee did a great job keeping possession and wearing out our already tired legs. We will recover and refocus for tomorrow."

Bennett got off to a booming start for the Wave. He put a rocket shot past Andrew Coughlin, followed by another goal only minutes later in the first quarter. However, there was no boom at all for the rest of the first half as Milwaukee would take its 2-0 lead into the locker-room.

Coming out of the break, things got ugly early in the third quarter as Jonatan Santos hit Slavisa Ubiparipovic with an elbow, and Slav was not pleased and had to be restrained by teammates from going after him. Ubiparipovic was giving a yellow card and Santos received a blue card, but the Silver Knights could not take advantage of the two-minute power play.

Tensions would stay high later in the quarter when Bo Jelovac tripped Santos which resulted in a Milwaukee power play. The Wave would look to Bennett again with the advantage and he completed his hat-trick to give his team a 3-0 lead.

From there, the game just kept getting ugly for Syracuse. Multiple bench penalties resulted in another power play for the Wave and Guilherme Veiga nutmegged Coughlin for his first goal of the game, pushing the score to 4-0 with 1:57 left in the third.

In the fourth quarter, the Silver Knights pulled their goalie to play 6-on-5 on the attack. All that did was free the net for Ian Bennett to put in his fourth goal of the game and Tenzin Rampa to score his first goal of the season. The team went back to only five attackers, but it did not matter as Syracuse finished with a goose egg in Milwaukee and lost 6-0.

Lemos' shutout was the first of his career and only the second shutout in the MASL this season. The victory for Milwaukee clinches a spot in the Ron Newman Cup playoffs as it looks for redemption after losing in the Easter Conference Finals last year.

This marks the first game this season where Syracuse has failed to score at least four goals in a match. Even though the Silver Knights gave up six goals, the defense held strong for most of the game. Syracuse only gave up two five-on-five goals. The other Milwaukee goals were scored on the power play and against six attackers.

Despite allowing four goals, Andrew Coughlin played a great game in front of the Syracuse net. He made 13 saves on the day, which is tied for his fourth highest total this season. Coughlin's performance moves him into fifth in the MASL in saves (151) and moves him into a tie for fourth in the MASL in save percentage (68%).
