Hidalgo, Texas - The RGV Barracudas snapped a six-game losing streak as they defeated the Turlock Express by final score of 7-5 on Sunday evening at State Farm Arena.

The Barracudas (3-12) opened the scoring in the first quarter when Fernando Moreno potted a Moises Gonzalez pass to make 1-0. Moreno added to the Barracudas advantage when took another Gonzalez pass to make it 2-0. Turlock responded with an Ivan Rios goal to make it 2-1. Julio Reyes scored a goal that made it 3-1 for the Barracudas off a Gonzalez pass to retain a two-goal cushion.

In the second quarter, Reyes found the back of the net on a powerplay goal that made it 4-1 in favor of the Barracudas. Gonzalez would pad the Barracudas advantage when he took an Oscar Ventura pass and made it a 5-1 game. Turlock added a goal by Jose Ortega that made it a 5-2 RGV lead.

After the intermission, Turlock (2-14) trimmed the RGV advantage to only two goals when Jorge Carmona scored an even strength goal to make 5-3.

In the last quarter Moreno and Gonzalez linked up for a third time on a powerplay goal to restore their three-goal cushion making it 6-3. Turlock scored a power play goal courtesy of Matthew Germain off an Adrian Pulido pass and made it 6-4 contest. Reyes found the back of the net for a third time as he took a Luiz Mota pass and made it a 7-4 game. Turlock would an extra attacker powerplay goal as Ortega scored off a Jose Acosta Moreno pass to end the scoring at 7-5.

RGV goalie Arnoldo Pruneda earned his first victory of the season with 20 saves and his record now stands at 1-5-1.
