Colorado Springs, Colo. (Saturday, July 18, 2015) - The Colorado Springs Switchbacks FC got their first draw at home Saturday night.

Switchbacks FC and Seattle Sounders FC 2 are two of the top teams in the USL Western Conference, and they battled to a draw at Sand Creek Stadium, with a final score of 1-1.

"It was a tale of two halves," said Switchbacks FC Head Coach Steve Trittschuh. "We played well in the first half and scored a goal, and I thought we were too complacent in the second half and they took advantage of it."

Switchbacks FC got the an early goal in the ninth minute, when Jordan Burt (#25) crossed from the right hand side to Aaron King (#18) who buried the ball in the left side of the net. That was the only goal for the Switchbacks FC.

"It was a tough match tonight," said Switchbacks FC striker Aaron King. We fought hard and got a result. We're going to get back to the drawing board and look to get three points in our next match."

Switchbacks FC held off S2's attack for most of the match, until the 60th minute when Jergio

Mota Mello (#89) hit a shot down the left side and into the net, thanks to an assist from Aaron Kovar (#11). That goal tied the match at one a piece, and that's where the score stayed until the end.

"The team really competed tonight and we continue our unbeaten streak at home which is great," said Switchbacks FC goalkeeper Samir Badr.

Switchbacks FC (10-6-2, 32 points) now stand just one point behind S2 (10-6-3, 33 points).

Switchbacks FC will play their next match at home against LA Galaxy II on Friday, July 31st at 7 p.m.
