Saint Louis FC News Release

ST. LOUIS, Mo. - Saint Louis FC wrapped up its two-game Canada roadtrip Saturday night, grabbing a 1-0 victory over Toronto FC II at Ontario Soccer Centre.

STL FC improves to 5-7-6 (21 pts.) on the season, while Toronto falls to 3-8-3 (12 pts.).

Saint Louis FC largely controlled possession throughout the first half. A big opportunity came early on when defender Nick Bibbs split a pair of defenders to find Mike Ambersley whose one touch deflected off of Toronto goalkeeper Quillan Roberts and nearly trickled into the net before defender Skylar Thomas raced back to prevent the early goal.

STL FC was, however, able to capitalize in the 39th minute with help from Bibbs. Bibbs first beat his defender before sending a low cross into the box in search of midfielder Charles Renken, but Toronto's Marcus Godinho stepped up and deflected the pass into the net. Toronto's own-goal put STL FC up 1-0 going into halftime.

Goalkeeper Alec Kann made five saves on the night to help STL FC maintain the lead throughout the rest of the game.

Saint Louis FC will return home on Saturday, July 25 to host Oklahoma City Energy FC at World Wide Technology Soccer Park. Kickoff is scheduled for 7:30 PM.
