Penn FC News Release

Harrisburg, PA (July18, 2015) - The Harrisburg City Islanders have gone from Charleston to Wilmington to New York and back again in the past five weeks.

Since June 27, the Islanders have yet to follow up on a result with the same type the following week -- win or lose -- and a 2-0 loss at home Saturday against the New York Red Bulls continued the pattern.

They lost to Charleston on the road, then came back home to defeat Wilmington, then took another loss to Charleston on the Island. Last week, the Islanders defeat the Red Bulls II in New York 2-0 to jump up to sixth in the USL Eastern Conference standings.

Six days later, on their home field, the Islanders outshot New York six to five in the first half, then allowed two goals within five minutes in the second to drop to 6-7-4 in the USL.

Jose Barril threaded an angled pass through the New York defenders and up to Erick Neres da Cruz in the 56th minute, but the shot went straight to the Red Bulls goalkeeper.

In the 65th minute, Dante Leverock slid into a New York forward sprinting up the wing to earn his second yellow of the game. Ten minutes later, a New York shot sent Ken Tribbett sliding in back for a stop in the goal box. Leonard Stolz picked up the rebound and sent the ball above goalkeeper Nick Noble and to the center of the crossbar.

In the 80th minute, Daniel Bedoya came down the left side and waited until Noble stepped up, then cut the ball past him to make it 2-0. Bedoya fell to his knees to the left of the goal and was joined by the rest of the Red Bulls in a celebratory huddle while the Islanders reset on the field at Skyline Sports Complex. The Red Bulls II improved to 8-7-4 and fifth in the Eastern Conference standings.

The next time the Islanders will take the pitch will be Sunday, July 26 at 6:30 p.m. against Pittsburgh for the third time this season. For tickets and more information please visit www.cityislanders.com or call 717-441-GOAL (4625).
