Colorado Springs Switchbacks FC News Release
Colorado Springs, Colo. (Wednesday, August 5, 2015) - The Colorado Springs Switchbacks FC unbeaten streak at home was broken Wednesday night.
Switchbacks FC lost to USL Western Conference rivals Tulsa Roughnecks FC 1-0.
"Tulsa had one chance and they converted it," said Switchbacks FC Head Coach Steve Trittschuh. "We were not ruthless enough in the first half to put the game away. We need to show some character the rest of the season and get some results."
Switchbacks FC seemed to dominate the game and had several close chances to score but couldn't connect the ball with the net and didn't put it away in the first half. In the second half, Tulsa got a chance and took it when Sammy Ochoa (#9) found the net in the 46th minute.
"We didn't take our chances, the game could have been over in the first half," said Switchbacks FC's Rony Argueta. "They were playing very compact and when they got their goal on the counter attack, it was very difficult to break them down when they had every man behind the ball. We need to stick together, put this behind us and move on to the next game."
Switchbacks FC (11-7-2, 35 points) remain in third place in the USL's Western Conference, while Tulsa Roughnecks FC (9-9-4, 31 points) currently sit in sixth place.
"Thank you to all of the fans who came out," said Switchbacks FC's Josh Phillips. "We love you. We'll focus and we'll finish out the season with four more home victories."
Switchbacks FC are hitting the road, heading to Sacramento to take on the Republic FC Saturday, August 8th at 9 p.m. Then the two teams will meet again, less than a week later, on Friday, August 14th at home at Sand Creek Stadium.
