Switchbacks FC Signs Center Back Tobi Adewole

Colorado Springs, CO - The Colorado Springs Switchbacks FC announced Thursday the signing of defender Tobi Adewole, previously from Indy Eleven of the USL Championship. Per club policy, the details of the **signing have not been made public and is pending league and federation approval.

"Tobi has played a number of games in the Championship, and all at playoff clubs," said Head Coach and General Manager Brendan Burke. "We are very happy to have him join this group and provide us another player with quality and experience who can compete to start and continue to drive our training environment and team forward."

Adewole, 26, began his professional career after an impressive open trial with the Pittsburgh Riverhounds led to a one-year deal in January, 2017. In his three seasons with the Riverhounds, Adewole notched an impressive 6,160 minutes, with over 300 clearances, three goals, and an average pass success rate of 65.3% over all three seasons.

The Nigerian began the 2020 season with Saint Louis FC, then of the USL Championship, where he made just 12 appearances before being signed to Phoenix Rising FC in December 2020. He made 15 appearances for the club in 2021, earning an 80% tackle success rate and winning 51.6% of duels. In September of 2021 it was announced that Adewole had signed with Indy Eleven.

"I'm familiar with the players and coaching staff; this is a great team so I know to expect exceptional things. I am ready and can't wait to get started. I know the quality of the group and happy I can add to that."
