Republic FC to Host Phoenix Rising in Next Round of U.S. Open Cup

After an extra-time thriller at Heart Health Park on Wednesday, the fourth round draw determined Republic FC's next 2022 Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup opponent. Before the envelopes were shuffled, Republic FC was placed in the Northern Pacific pot, featuring Seattle Sounders FC, San Jose Earthquakes, and Phoenix Rising FC.
The Boys in Old Glory Red will host Phoenix Rising FC on May 10th or 11th - which will be announced later today. The other match in the Northern Pacific pot will feature San Jose Earthquakes visiting CONCACAF Champions League finalist Seattle Sounders.
Republic FC has reached the Fourth-Round / Round of 32 in the tournament in all but one of its six previous entries. The Indomitable Club reached the Round of 16 in back to back years, 2017 and 2018.
Republic FC and Phoenix have never faced off in U.S. Open Cup play. This is the seventh appearance for the Arizona club including under their previous moniker Arizona United, and their second appearance in the Fourth Round / Round of 32. Phoenix Rising have never advanced to the Round of 16.
