Switchbacks FC Sign Standout Pair of Air Force Academy Attackers

Colorado Springs, CO - The Colorado Springs Switchbacks FC announced today the signings of Tucker Bone and Austin Dewing. Both players will be available for selection June 15th against Rio Grande Valley FC.

Tucker Bone, 23, primarily played as an attacking midfielder for the Air Force Academy for the last four years before graduating in May. He started 67 of 81 appearances, recording 25 goals and 22 assists for the Academy. The attacking midfielder was named Western Athletic Conference Player of the Year and a MAC Hermann Trophy Semifinalist as a senior in 2018 while earning three First Team All-WAC selections and two United Soccer Coaches First Team All-American selections. Bone also spent time playing with the U23 Pride Switchbacks in USL League Two (formerly PDL) in 2018. Bone was selected 20th overall by the Seattle Sounders FC in the 2019 MLS SuperDraft on January 11th, 2019.

On signing with the Switchbacks:

Austin Dewing, 22, is a Colorado Springs Native that spent the last four years playing for the Air Force Academy after winning a State Title at Air Academy High School. Dewing recorded 29 goals and and 19 assists in 77 appearances while at the Academy. The forward has earned Second-Team All-WAC (2016), First-Team All-West Regional (2017 & 2018), and Third-Team All-America (2018). Dewing is also a product of Pride Soccer Club where he won a State Cup and state tournament MVP in 2013.

On signing with the Switchbacks:

"It's absolutely a dream come true. As a little kid, I always wanted to play pro. This is finally my opportunity. But really I'm thankful for all of the people that made this possible. It's not really a personal thing, it's about my coaches and everybody that made this possible. That's what it means to me. It's more of a team accomplishment than it is an individual accomplishment."

On playing professionally in his home town:

"I've gone to quite a few Switchbacks games back in the day, in the first season. I would rather play for this team than any other team. It's a dream come true for my family to be able to come and watch and support me. I'm very excited."

The Switchbacks' next game is June 15th when they travel to Texas to take on Rio Grande Valley FC. The Switchbacks' return to Weidner Field on June 22nd as the Real Monarchs SLC come to town on Summer Fireworks and T-shirt Giveaway Night. The first 500 fans in attendance will receive a free Switchbacks t-shirt courtesy of Colorado Technical University. Full 16oz beers will be available for $1 for the first 30 minutes after gates open at 6:00 PM. Tickets start at just $12 and are available HERE. For the price of a Switchbacks ticket and 2-5 beers, it is cheaper than buying 2-5 beers at a bar or restaurant.
