
Switchbacks Begin US Open Cup Run Tomorrow Night against FC Denver

Colorado Springs, CO - The Colorado Springs Switchbacks will begin their quest for the 105th edition of the Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup tomorrow night at Weidner Field against FC Denver (USSS).
The Colorado Springs Switchbacks will enter the historic tournament in the second round along with 21 other USL clubs. The Switchbacks have successfully advanced past all three of their previous second-round matches. Last year, the Switchbacks knocked off FC Tucson (PDL) and defeating Harpo's (USSSA) the previous two meetings. Should the Switchbacks advance, they will travel to Texas to face the winner of Midland-Odessa Sockers FC (NPSL) and San Antonio FC (USL).
The US Open Cup is one of the most unique tournaments in the world. Similiar to the FA Cup in England, soccer teams from all levels are eligible to participate in the tournament. Last year ameature club Christos FC (USASA) made it all the way to the fourth round to face D.C. United (MLS) who are in the top flight of American soccer. 94 Teams are participating in this year's tournament.
Kickoff is set for 7:00 pm with gates opening at 6:00 pm for $1 Beer. Parking is free and tickets can be purchased for just $5.
