Match Week: Lights FC to Host U.S. Open Cup, USL Matches During Busy Week at Home
May 15, 2018 - United Soccer League Championship (USL)
Las Vegas Lights FC News Release
LAS VEGAS - Las Vegas Lights FC has a busy week ahead - one which includes a historic match Wednesday night, followed by the return to the Cashman Field confines Saturday night.
Wednesday at 7:30 p.m., Lights FC will take part for the first time in the oldest ongoing soccer competition in the United States - the Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup. In second round action, Lights FC hosts USL Premier Developmental League club FC Tucson at UNLV's Peter Johann Soccer Field.
Three nights later at 8 p.m., Lights FC (2-2-4, 10 points) returns to USL regular season play and gets a second crack at Real Monarchs SLC (7-1-1, 22 points), who currently finds itself in first place on the Western Conference table. Since Lights FC earned a gritty 0-0 draw in Utah on April 30, Real Monarchs has won three straight. One highlight of the evening will be the unveiling of the world's largest Lights FC scarf, which will hang at Cashman Field all season and is available for fans to sign when attending any home match.
A limited number of tickets for Wednesday's U.S. Open Cup Match at UNLV are available at LightsFC.com/USOpenCupTix for $15. Tickets for Saturday night's match at Cashman Field are available at LightsFC.com/SingleTix, and start at just $15.
There will be no televised broadcast or stream of Wednesday's U.S. Open Cup match. Saturday's showdown with Real Monarchs SLC will air locally on myLVTV, and will also stream live nationwide on the new ESPN+ app.
