Sweets Drop Close Game Three, Get Swept

VICTORIA, B.C.- The Walla Walla Sweets (23-22) dropped the final game of the series against the Victoria HarbourCats (33-11) 3-2 on Thursday afternoon.

Hayden Duer (Cal State Monterey Bay) gave the Sweets an early lead in the second inning with a solo home run to left. It was his second home run of the season.

Victoria tied it at one with back-to-back doubles in the bottom of the second.

The Sweets took the lead back in the fifth when Ben Baird (Washington) singled home a run to make it 2-1.

Victoria scored one in the sixth and one in the seventh off of the Sweets' bullpen to take the lead for good.

Chris Murphy (San Diego) only lasted into the fifth, but gave up just one run. He still leads the West Coast League with 62 strikeouts.

Walla Walla will take on the Cowlitz Black Bears tomorrow for the first of three at Borleske. The Sweets will send Jackson Weeg (Emory) to the hill tomorrow.
