Kelowna Falcons News Release
The Falcons had rough outing on Wednesday night in game two of their series against the visiting Wenatchee AppleSox. Not much went the home side's way on both sides of the ball. The AppleSox were a force to be reckoned with, putting up 13 runs against the birds' 3.
The 'sox smashed 17 hits on their way to the victory, and took advantage of 6 Falcon errors. Visiting pitching was a puzzle the birds couldn't solve, putting together 9 hits, but failing to get the timely hits that would have kept them in the game.
The Falcons tried just about everything they could, using 15 batters through 9 innings. They only struck out 3 times as club, but couldn't manage hits with runners in scoring position.
O'Keeffe Hall started the game for the Falcons, but had a short outing, going only 2 1/3 innings. Cody Ahlgrimm was an ironman out of the bullpen, tossing nearly 100 pitches through his 4 2/3 innings of work. JT Williams pitched the final two frames for the Falcons.
The loss puts the Falcons second half record at 9-8, good for a second place tie in the West Coast League's North division. Playoffs are still very much a possibility for the club out of Kelowna, but they'll need to recover from Wednesday's blip to do so.
They'll have their first chance to rebound on Thursday night for the rubber match of the series against the AppleSox.
The Falcons will try for the series win and put Wednesday's loss behind them. First pitch for that game is scheduled for 6:35 at Elks Stadium.
