West Michigan Whitecaps News Release

COMSTOCK PARK - Jon Kibler pitched seven shutout innings and the Whitecaps led 9-0 after six innings in a 9-4 victory over Wisconsin. West Michigan completed a sweep of the Timber Rattlers, which was the first for the 'Caps since a three game sweep of Beloit, April 21-23.

Kibler improved his Midwest League-leading ERA to 1.81 and bumped his record to 10-4.

Ronnie Bourquin put West Michigan on the board with a two-run homer in the second off Rattlers starter Brett Lorin. Kyle Peter added an RBI double later in the inning.

Peter drew two walks and scored twice. In the past two games, he has walked five times and scored five runs. A pair of runs in the fourth inning stretched the lead to 5- 0. In the sixth, Justin Henry hit a two-run single. Chris Carlson picked up an RBI on a ground out and Alex Avila clubbed an RBI double to give West Michigan a 9-0 advantage.

Kelvin Cedano relived Kibler and gave up a pair of home run in the eighth, which accounted for all of the Wisconsin scoring in the game.

Israel Nunez led off the inning with a solo shot. Denny Almonte launched a three-run blast over the Miller Lite House in right field.

Joe Kantakevich finished the game for Wisconsin with three shutout innings of relief.

Henry reached base five times for West Michigan. He went 3-for-3 with a pair of walks and a stolen base. Jordan Newton scored twice for the 'Caps.

West Michigan has won three in a row for the first time since the first three games of July.
