Battle Creek Battle Jacks News Release
La Crosse, WI - Cole Swanson (San Diego State) threw 5.2 innings and gave up just one run in his first start for Battle Creek Sunday evening. The outing gave the Bombers the momentum to earn a 6-1 victory over the La Crosse Loggers at Copeland Park.
Offensively, the odd-numbered innings were favorable for Battle Creek. They scored runs in the 1st, 3rd, 5th, 7th, and 9th innings. Daniel Rockett (UT: San Antonio) knocked in Conor Costello (Arkansas) for each of the first two runs. They continued to build their lead on the Loggers throughout the game, and got two big runs in the 9th to put the game away.
The lone run Swanson gave up on the mound was an RBI groundout in the 2nd inning. Once he was taken out in the 6th, the combination of Ethan Bramschreiber (Northwestern), Brian Heldman (Arkansas), and Alex Tukey (Minnesota) slammed the door.
The Bombers will send Dylan Rheault (Central Michigan) to the hill tomorrow night to try and end the road trip on a high note. First pitch from La Crosse is scheduled for 8:05 ET.
