Mankato MoonDogs News Release

MANKATO, Minn.-In extra innings, the Mankato MoonDogs suffer their first loss in games 11 Saturday at Franklin Rogers 10-9 to the Waterloo Bucks.

MoonDogs starting pitcher, Wayland Moore (Marshall) struggled on the bump giving up six runs in the second inning and another run in the third to give Waterloo a 7-1 lead. The southpaw regained balance after the third to complete 5 1/3 innings, allowing eight runs on seven hits, while walking five and striking out four Bucks.

What was termed as a slugfest, Nick Ratajczak (Louisville) led the MoonDogs comeback attempt going 4-5 at the plate with two runs scored, a double and four RBI, while walking once. Chris Munoz (Oklahoma City) took part in the MoonDogs offense by getting three hits in five attempts, an RBI and a run scored. The 'Dogs played catch-up until tying the Bucks in the seventh inning, which would send the game into extra innings after a scoreless eighth and ninth.

Bucks left-fielder, Kevin Kaczmarski (Evansville), would prove to be the hero of the game for Waterloo with a tenth inning double that would send Kellen Camus (Washington State) home, and a run for the Bucks. While trailing by one, it was a hard fought battle that ended with Ratajczak's ground out to first that would finalize the 10-9 loss for the 'Dogs.

The MoonDogs finish their seven game homestand Sunday at 6:05 p.m. against the Bucks, before heading to Waterloo to finish the three-game series Monday. It is Super Hero night Sunday, fans are encouraged to show up to The Frank dressed as their favorite character.
