New York Boulders News Release
The Rockland Boulders (21-16) opened up a three game set with the Sussex County Miners (25-12) on Tuesday night with an 8-4 defeat. Not long ago, Travis Hissong seemed to be in a groove. The right-hander had thrown back to back solid outings against the Jackals to start June. His previous start against the Miners wasn't up to par with those, however. The 27 year old lasted only 5.2 innings, giving up four runs on nine hits while walking four. Looking to turn things around tonight, his outing was nearly a mirror image of his last. Hissing went only five innings, allowing five earned runs (four earned) on seven hits and four walks. His offense didn't go away easily, though.
Down 5-1 in the fifth, Rockland brought home three runs on two hits. With runners on the corners and one out, Kevin Krause belted a three-run jack over the wall to narrow the deficit to one. Those would be the last runs of the night for the Boulders, who left a total of nine men on base.
They play game two of the series tomorrow at 7:05pm EST.
