Wichita Wind Surge News Release
Wichita, KS - The Wind Surge win their fourth in a row, cruise to an 8-2 victory over the Springfield Cardinals at Riverfront Stadium.
Starter RHP Chris Vallimont was dominant in his seventh start for the Wind Surge this season. He picked up his first win on the season with his longest appearance in a start on the year. Vallimont finished his night with five innings pitched, three hits, one run, one walk, and seven strikeouts.
Wichita had another red-hot night early at the plate. SS Jermaine Palacios finished a triple shy of the cycle, going 4-5 with two HR, a single and a double with three RBI. C Roy Morales extended his hitting streak to six games, with a 3-3 game with three singles, an RBI, and a walk. 1b Caleb Hamilton also tacked on two RBI, going 1-3 with a double and a walk.
RHP Jason Garcia made his second appearance out of the bullpen for the Surge since being signed, and in his only inning of work would strike out the side. LHP Zach Neff followed, going two complete innings allowing one run, one hit, one strikeout, and no walks. LHP Jovani Moran finished off the game for Wichita, tossing a scoreless ninth by striking out the side.
NOTES: C Roy Morales extended his hitting streak to six games. SS Jermaine Palacios collected four hits, which ties the franchise record (Boyd 5/29, Cabrera 6/15). This is the third straight game the Wind Surge offense have produced more than ten runs. RHP Yennier Cano was promoted to Triple-A St. Paul. 2b Peter Mooney was placed on the 7-Day Injured List. 2b Wilbis Santiago was signed by the Minnesota Twins and assigned to Wichita.
