ATLANTIC CITY, N.J. (May 20, 2003) – Surf southpaw Andy High tossed seven solid innings and his offense pounded out eleven hits as Atlantic City dropped the Pennsylvania Road Warriors, 7-5, Tuesday evening at the Sandcastle.

Atlantic City tallied four runs in the first two innings to take an early lead on Pennsylvania, keyed by an RBI double by Trey Beamon and a one-run single off the bat of Shane Monahan.

High (1-1) began the game on a torrid pace, fanning the first six batters he faced and allowing no hits until the fourth inning. After a two-out walk to Isasis Nunez, Pennsylvania's Jerry Amador roped a two-run homer over the left-field wall for the first hit of the game to make the score 4-2 in favor of the Surf.

The Surf offense countered in the fifth inning with three more runs off three hits to give Atlantic City a 7-2 lead.

High would throw seven innings, allowing three runs on just four hits while striking out eight and walking two.

The Road Warriors would score a single run in the seventh and the eighth innings before tallying another and threatening with two men on base in the ninth inning off Surf closer Randi Mallard.

Mallard would get Deurys Reyes and Javier Sein to fly out to end the comeback threat and earn his Atlantic League-leading sixth save of the season.

Amador had three of Pennsylvania's seven hits and drove in three runs while Dario Delgado added two hits.

Ric Johnson, Raul Marval, Monahan and Beamon each had two hits for Atlantic City, which improves to 7-10 on the season

The Road Warriors fall to 4-13 and extend their losing streak to six consecutive games.

The Surf and the Road Warriors resume their series on Wednesday, May 21, at 6:35 p.m., at the Sandcastle.
