August 16, 2003 - Canadian American League (Can-Am)
Atlantic City Surf News Release
Camden, NJ- The Surf had lost six of Andy High''s last seven starts going into last nights game with Camden, but like the old saying goes, "he's due." Ben Simon took the mound for the Riversharks sporting a four-game winning streak and a 10-1 record in his last 11 outings. This time that old saying would state, " he's due to lose."
High and Simon exchanged outs through the first eight innings in what turned out to be the pitchers dual of the year. No score going into the ninth inning.
All good things must come to an end, and fortunately that end came to Ben Simon. He allowed five straight hits to open up the ninth inning before an out was registered. Juan Thomas slammed a two-run double down the right field line for a 2-0 lead, and then Jose Velazquez blasted a two-run Homer to seal the win.
The Sharks were able to put a run on the board in the bottom of the ninth inning which came off Thompson who was pitching in relief for High.
The final score was 4-1 in favor of AC with the win going to High and the loss to Simon.
The Surf stay in the thick of the race and with 28 games remaining, each contest is huge.
Tune into 1490 WUSS for all your Surf play-by-play for the remaining games of the season.
