
Surf Swept Away by Jackals

ATLANTIC CITY- New Jersey Jackal's Wilton Veras cranked a two-run home run in the sixth inning to sweep their three game series against the Atlantic City Surf at Bernie Robbins Stadium Wednesday night in front of 5,012.
The Jackal's lead off hitter Francisco Leandro got the job done going three-for-five with a run scored. The Jackal's starting pitcher lasted a strong five innings striking out six Surf batters and walking only two. Rusty Tucker gets another save for the Jackals striking out two batters in one inning of work for his league leading 13th save of the season.
The Surf's Matt Scheuing took another hard loss dropping his record to 0-3. Scheuing went 5.2 innings giving up three runs on five hits while striking two.
A seventh inning rally began when Josh Renick and Wally Rosa reached base and were drove home by a Lucas Taylor sacrifice and an RBI ground out by Anthony Granato. The Surf's late game rally was not enough after Rob Fisher grounded out to first base for the third out.
The Surf will travel to Canada for a four game showdown in Quebec starting July 6th. The Surf will return home July 11th for four game series versus Worcester at Bernie Robbins Stadium in Atlantic City.
