ATLANTIC CITY, N.J. (July 3, 2003) â Brothers Brandon and Brody Jackson both homered and Andy High tossed nearly seven strong innings to lead the Atlantic City Surf over the Pennsylvania Road Warriors, 6-1, Thursday evening in front of 5,272 fans at the Sandcastle.
Down 1-0 in the second inning, Raul Marval got things started for the Surf with a solo home run to left field.
Atlantic City tallied two more runs in the third after Brody Jackson's solo homer and an RBI double by Jose Velazquez.
Brody Jackson drove in another run on a sacrifice fly in the fourth that plated Willy Ruiz, who tripled. His older brother Brandon Jackson then led off the fifth inning with a solo homer to left to give the Surf a decisive 5-1 lead.
High (6-3) pitched six and two-third innings and allowed just one run, a Gustavo Escobar solo homer in the first, off seven hits while striking out three to pick up the win.
Road Warriors starter Greg Runser (1-4) allowed five runs through four and two-third innings while walking for to take the loss.
Atlantic City's Ric Johnson extended his on-base streak to 27 consecutive games with a single and a walk. Ruiz drove in another run in the eighth and had two hits on the day.
The Surf improve to 28-30 with the win while the Road Warriors fall to 13-45.
ON DECK: The Surf and the Road Warriors wrap up their series with a 4th of July Special at 6:35 p.m., at the Sandcastle. A special fireworks extravaganza will follow the game, sponsored by Borgata Casino and Spa. Borgata will also hand out Atlas Maps to the first 4,000 fans.
